| A limited number of properties
may become available to rent at a rental set between
social housing rent and private market rent. The
properties are generally available to key workers
and some other public sector workers, e.g., support
workers, teaching and learning assistants, etc.
They are 1 or 2 bed apartments. Houses may become
available however this is rare. |
| |
| Tenancies are Assured Shorthold
linked to a key worker/public sector worker occupation.
Once a Key Worker leaves their qualifying occupation,
they will have to give up their tenancy. |
| |
| For some Intermediate Rent schemes, the qualifying
Key Worker occupations may depend on local recruitment
& retention needs and is generally a wider classification
than the government defined Key Worker Living definition.
|
| |
| Points to remember |
|
- Schemes may be funded in a variety of ways
and have different qualifying criteria.
- Tenancies are ‘tied’ to the Key
Worker / public sector occupation.
- Tenancies are Assured Shorthold and have
no right to transfer, mutual exchange etc.
- Rents are generally set at 70% to 80% of
market rents.
- Intermediate Rent is available to Key Workers
who are not UK or EU citizens and without ‘Indefinite
Leave to Remain’ on their passports.
