Intermediate Rent

What is Intermediate Rent?

Intermediate Rent is a rental scheme where the rents are set at a level between social housing rent and private rent. Intermediate rents should be no more than 80% of private market rents and are often lower.

Who can apply?

Generally Intermediate Rent schemes are for key workers, but please check with Lea Valley Homes for any schemes in your area. Non UK or European Key Workers do not have to have Indefinite Leave to Remain to apply.

How many properties are available for Intermediate Rent in Herts?

Availability is limited and varies between local authority areas.

What sort of properties are offered under the scheme?

Mostly 1 and 2 bedroom flats or occasionally studio flats. Family size properties or houses are rare.

Would I be able to transfer to another property?

Intermediate Rent properties are not a ‘secure-type’ tenancy – they are Assured Shorthold and have no Right to Transfer or Mutual Exchange.
