HomeBuy is a scheme to help those who wish to purchase a home but cannot do so with out assistance, and for those who wish to rent but cannot afford the cost of market rents.

The scheme is targeted at different groups such as key workers, social housing tenants and first time buyers.

Do I Qualify?


To be considered for the HomeBuy and Intermediate Rent schemes please check if you meet the criteria below:

Maximum household income must not exceed £60,000 p.a.

Applicants should be either:
	Current social housing tenants (council or housing association)
	Registered on the Local Housing Waiting List
	Government-defined Key Workers
	Other First Time Buyers unable to buy a home without assistance
	Previous home owners or owner-occupiers going through a relationship breakdown where the property is being sold or transferred to a sole name to release equity
	Some other ‘local’ public sector workers may be considered for local Intermediate Rent schemes in certain areas if they are unable to afford private market rents.
	NHS Medical Secretaries/Medical Receptionists, Teaching Assistants, Learning Assistants and Care Workers employed by Local Authorities


Key Workers as defined under the government initiative for Key Worker Living are the following in Hertfordshire:

	Clinical NHS staff (except doctors & dentists)
	Teachers in state-funded schools & certain further education colleges
	Police Officers and Police Community Support Officers.
	Uniformed staff in Herts Fire & Rescue Services (below Principal level)
	Prison Services staff (in specific roles)
	Probation Services staff ( in specific roles)
	Social Workers (ACS) Social Workers (CSF), Educational Psychologists, various Therapists, Rehabilitation Officers for the visually impaired and qualified Nursery Nurses employed by Local Authorities or the NHS
	Local Authority employed Clinical staff (e.g. Nurses)
	Local Authority Planners ( including Tree & Conservation Officers)
	Education Officers for Looked After Children
	C.A.F.C.A.S.S. employed Social Workers (Guardians)
	Connexions Personal Advisors (employed by Connexions Partnership or Local Authority only)
	Highways Agency Traffic Police
	Environmental Health Practitioners

Considered Key Worker priority group for New Build HomeBuy and Intermediate Rent only
