Kate
a Police Officer aged 22 has already taken that
first step on to the property ladder with the help
of Open Market HomeBuy – a government –
led initiative.
Kate has purchased a beautifully refurbished 2 bedroom
flat with the wow factor in Sandy. The flat has
a garage, drive, small courtyard garden and it’s
own independent access and is in an excellent location
for all the amenities of Sandy.
Kate says ‘That the process of applying was
surprisingly easy through Lea Valley Homes and that
everyone was extremely helpful’.
Kate applied direct to the Yorkshire Building Society
for her mortgage and the 12 1/2% equity share and
she found the Yorkshire Building Society very helpful.
Travelling to Stevenage Police Station is extremely
easy, either straight down the A1 or she regularly
uses the train, helping to save the environment.
Kate says ‘I would never have been able to
afford to purchase without assistance and take that
first important step onto the property ladder, and
would otherwise been renting’.
Kate heard about the scheme through word of mouth
from her colleagues at Stevenage Police Station
who had already purchased through the HomeBuy scheme.
This has been a very important step for Kate as
she has been given the all clear from ‘Hodgkin’s
Lymphona’ for a year now which was diagnosed
in May 2005. Kate spoke about how supportive Hertfordshire
Constabulary and all of her colleagues have been.
Kate intends to stay in her new home for 2 to 5
years and hopes that she will then be able to take
that next step of purchasing without assistance.
Kate says ‘expanded Open Market HomeBuy is
a brilliant scheme, with house prices rising, she
would definitely recommended it!’
